Her world was filled with brightest, love and laughter. She was so full of life and happiness then one day her entire world turned into darkness. She could no longer see the beauty within herself. As if she felt like a burden to everyone. Friends and family started to become more of an enemy as she slowly pushed them away. Numbness became the new normal, nothing could possibly hurt her feelings or make her cry like before. Self isolation stepped in and took over. Life just wasn’t the same anymore. Anger was very provoking by the littlest things, at first nothing made sense until one day she lost complete control of herself. She was tired emotionally and mentally. . . .

She was me, I lost my focus, I tried telling the people I loved I was not okay. They were too busy to sit and listen so I held it all inside until I snapped. Everyone I talked to was always “sorry” or said “it’s just the stages” but it was more than that. More than I could handle alone.

Depression has been the longest journey so far it’s only been a few months that feel like a lifetime. This story will still continue in the matter of time.

Healthy Weeknight Meals

Cooking can sometimes feel like a chore at the end of a busy day. It’s often tempting to throw a ready meal in the oven or call for take out. But preparing a simple and healthy family meal doesn’t have to be hard or time-consuming. Here are some quick wholesome dishes that you and your family will love. They can even be prepared in advance.

Breakfast at my House

During the week we’re often walking out the door with a coffee in one hand and slice of toast in the other, but on weekends breakfast is never rushed. It’s a late affair, sometimes spilling over to lunch, with lots of reading and chatter in between courses of fruits, poached eggs, honey and toast. One of our favorite things we like to serve when friends are visiting are buckwheat blueberry pancakes.
